Matt Lucas to Reprise His Role as Nardole in Season 10 of “Doctor Who”
Last christmas, we gave our hearts to Matt Lucas as Nardole in the eleventh Christmas special of Doctor Who, “The Husbands of River Song.” The lovable snow-capped Lucas will be returning as Nardole in the first episode of Doctor Who Season 10.
In a press release, show runner Steven Moffat, who also wrote the first episode of Season 10 said he is, “Delighted and slightly amazed to be welcoming Matt Lucas back on to the TARDIS – and this time it’s not just for Christmas, he’s sticking around. One of the greatest comedy talents on planet Earth is being unleashed on all of time and space.”
Lucas commented, ““I’m chuffed to bits that Nardole is returning to the TARDIS for some more adventures. I loved acting with Peter and I’m excited to work with Pearl.” Excited fans await the filming for season 10, which begins Monday June 20 in Cardiff, the capital of Wales.
Matt Lucas is one of the U.K.’s top comedic talents, having made an immense name for himself as a part of the sketch comedy series Little Britain with David Walliams (who has appeared on Who several times). Lucas has appeared in numerous American films including Bridesmaids (where he played Rebel Wilson’s brother), and Tim Burton’s Alice films where he plays Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.
Additionally, it was announced Stephanie Hyam will play a guest role on the show. Hyam is known for her performance as Lily Clarke in Jekyll & Hyde, alongside her appearances in Peaky Blinders, Murdered by My Boyfriend, and Sherlock.
Award-winning screenwriter Frank Cottrell-Boyce has also been announced to have written the second episode of the season.
