Looks like the Guardians can add another space captain to their roster.
According to reports by Comic Book.com, Nathan Fillion, who has collaborated with director and writer James Gunn on multiple projects, is rumored to be cast in a role in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy.
While his role has not been officially disclosed to the public, nor the capacity his role will play in the film, the report states that set pictures seem to confirm he will be playing an old villain turned Avenger from the comics Simon Williams aka Wonder Man.
The onset pictures show a Simon Williams’ movie festival playing at a small theatre, giving another hint that some plot of the sequel will take place on Earth. It is known in the comic books that the Williams’ character did a stint as an actor in some major films in the Marvel Universe.
The posters rage from a Conan the Barbarian type of film, to an excellent parody of the Steve Jobs film entitled “Tony Stark.”
While the role could just be a glorious Easter Egg for us comic book and Nathan Fillion fans to find, it would be absolutely legendary to have Fillion up on the screen fighting with Guardians, and hopefully in the near future, The Avengers.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set for a May 5, 2017 release date.
