Warning: Full ‘Thanksgiving’ Spoilers Ahead
What a weird, weird episode. I just wanted to start out with that because you’ll be scratching your head throughout the whole thing, asking why and questioning many motives.
Let’s start with the positives; Chanel Oberlin and Chad Radwell. My God, their dynamic is so ridiculous and hilarious, proclaiming the most obscene dialogue one can even think of. It’s so fast and witty, filled with loving insults. These two are miserable together and it’s great. Chanel finds herself at the Radwell home, sharing a Thanksgiving dinner with the most atrocious people on the planet, including Mr. Radwell (Alan Thicke) and brother Brad Radwell (Patrick Schwarzenegger). This family hates Chanel, making her feel as bad as she makes everyone else feels. Her family (who is “gross” rich) isn’t as rich as the Radwell’s and she’s trash because of it.
You’ll notice I didn’t mention Hester’s death in my last review and that’s because I was pretty convinced she wasn’t dead. And I was proven right (as I pat my back) because she showed up at the Radwell party to convince them she was the one for Chad. Luckily, the Radwell’s hated both of these girls and it made for a very brutal game of Pictionary that resulted in Chad Radwell guessing the answer to be a “Neckbrace Wearing Whore.” This caused Chanel to stand up for her friend and dump Chad. My heart broke. Chad and Chanel forever, please.
While this half of the episode was stupid in all the right ways, the second plot was just stupid. We join Munsch, Grace, Wes, Zayday, Pete and Chanel’s #3 and 5 for Thanksgiving dinner and they all begin to accuse each other of being the Red Devil because…yeah, I have no clue. It was filler, all filler. Sure, a lot of reasons would have made a lot of sense in episode two but this far into the season we know Grace, Munsch, Wes, Pete and Zayday aren’t the killers. Chanel’s #3 and 5 are possibilities but still, unlikely. No, I have no idea who the killer is past Boone (now deceased) and Gigi but I have a hard time believing it’s most of the people in the house at the moment. We did, however, find out that Wes fathered the babies in the bathtub, meaning he is Boone’s father and whoever the daughter is.
We end with the entire house sitting down for dinner at the KKT house. As Chanel removes the lid from the platter holding the turkey, we instead see the decapitated head of Gigi. This proves one thing; the Red Devil is not putting up with her crap anymore than Boone’s.
I’m confused. I really am. In a good way and a bad way. I can’t see any of these characters being the killer but it has to be one of them, right? The only other option is it being someone who has already “died” (ala Boone) and is just working behind the mask. With only two episodes left, this show has to pick up the steam it’s lost. It’s still chugging along fine but the last two episodes are so have really taken a dip.
Final Grade: 6.5/10
